Hello,
I was wondering how the E-11 eb clarinet compares in general tone, intonation, qualty exc. to an R-13 eb clarinet. Would a Chadash barrel improve any intonation or tone problems that it might have?
Thanks, ~A.C.~

Eek. There is a world of difference between the two eb clarinets. But you know there's also a world of different between clarinets of the same model of those to. Generally the R-13 is better everything. Intonation, tone, you name it. The E-11's not intune with themselves whatsoever. And the chadash barrel's do make a difference on the horns. Also they have recently starting doing something different with the New Eb buffet r13's that make them awesome. When I mean awesome I mean better than a prestige better than everything. Try whatever you like. There's also a big difference in price between the two clarinets.

I tried a few E-11's, Noblet 45's and a '57 Selmer CT. My wife owns a two year old R-13. While the E-11 has little to do with the R-13 (different designs, factories, etc.) it is a powerful horn - for the money - about $1,000.00 less than the R-13, and one of the three I had to review was dead-nuts in tune (choose wisely), more than I can say for the R-13 in this house. While I would recomend a E-11 for a HS student or good adult, I passed on it and bought the Selmer for about the same $600.00.
