 IMS

I love that store! You know they have the best selection of clarinets. I went though tons of clarinets at other places and was very disapointed. I went to IMS today and I found the R-13 of my dreams. I am very happy. OH yes and they gave me a free chadash barrel to go with it. Everyone should go try that store out some time.

I find them very good to do business with. Lisa goes the extra mile for customer satisfaction. She went to LeBlanc and selected a nice 1193S for me last week. I'm glad you got a good R-13. Now, practice!

My vote also!!! Lisa went "the extra mile" in building a nice inventory of six Buffet Prestige bass clarinets for me to pick from--I think I got a "good one." And also, the X-Buffet tech repair person, Tom, is "the best." Store and staff highly recommended--but always remember, that along with their excellant stock and customer service, their "bottom line" is still Profit.

News and such (except politics) takes a long time to reach rural Iowa. Who and what is IMS and where are they located. Do they do business by catalogue?

Please don't tell me to do a search, re who is IMS, as I did a "Google" and they had over 56 pages of people/agencies/business' using IMS as a key--none of them associated with clarinets.

Great Store, about 10 miles from O'Hare airport. They have clarinet clinics about every 6 months appx. last one was given by Larry Combes.

I keep reading posts about IMS being such a great music store. I wish my experience had been so great. I'm glad I got a fabulous deal on a horn from them, because their customer service was not fabulous. I had been sent a couple of clarinets to try, and could tell that one of them had not been play-tested by Lisa, so I tried contacting her. Everytime I tried to get a hold of her, she was unavailable. Leaving messages for her was pointless because she never returned my calls. Instead, Spencer would return my calls with that horrible attitude of his. I will never do business with this company again. Since so many people have had such wonderful experiences with IMS, I wonder what I did or said to have received such horrible service. Hmm...I guess I'll never know!

I have done hundreds of transactions with Lisa and International Musical Suppliers with great results. I only had one deal that didn't go so well and that was due to an unusual set of circumstances that involved misunderstandings from leaving messages and speaking to other people at IMS between talking directly to Lisa about a problem I had with an instrument. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a great instrument. They really do know their clarinets and Lisa does try to do the best she can for her clarinetists.

Thanks to your input I asked IMS for a catalogue and asked a couple of questions about an instrument I "coveted" on their contact form. Today my phone rings and it is Lisa, phoning some nobody she has never heard of and taking the time to answer my questions personally and in great detail. Man, youse big town guys have got it made. Let's see, it's only 465 miles one way--Gee, I could make it in a day trip huh! Am sorely tempted considering the great vibes I got from Lisa. Thanks guys for the 'heads up'. Bob A

I had great success with them, however, the one day I selected to go there to try instruments was a day they were doing inventory. I had driven 500 miles to check out several instruments. Lesson being: if you plan to go there call ahead and ask them to get some instruments ready for you. And make sure it isn't inventory day. Just bad luck on my part I guess. Never a problem ordering, etc.

It is never appropriate to slander anyone on these pages. If you would like to talk about this incident in person, that would be more agreeable. I think you should be very careful about any personal attacks against individuals when criticizing an experience with a company.
