 Weber Concerto No 2
Author: carmen izzo

Hello All!

So, Ive started working on Weber II, and man. WHAT FUN!!! Well, its not so bad the first four measures of solo clarinet in the dirst mvt. Pretty much all i can do is not to use too much force from the tongue, support it well with air, and start my metronome at about 60. Any other tips from you guys before i have my first lesson on this sucka next week?

Thanks

make sure you tune the high f to the low one in the first measure. keep the air ready before the attacks so you don't get "shmwaa". Good luck on the piece....it's great! are you in college or high school?

Congratulations. It's a great piece - a worthwhile challenge.
I would suggest that you find the Rose edition as published by
"Collection Costallat" (#B.12971). It may cost more, but it's so
much more authentic than any other and has a great cadenza in the
"Romanza" movement. Incidentally, there's a Rose edition of the Concertino. A bien tot! E.T.

good luck!!

The weber no. 2 is a fantastic concerto! So much fun!! I think the main point especially in the last movement as with any concerto like this that everything is so crystal clear, especially the semiquaver sixes in the last movement.

Enjoy!

Rob

Carmen -

I did a fairly long posting about the Weber Concerto # 2 at http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=2985&t=2883. This will give you plenty to work on before your lesson.

Have fun. It's a great piece, with plenty of smiles.

Ken Shaw
