I'm a former music major, I'm not going to majoring in music in the school that I'm transferring to this fall. But I'm still looking for a very good clarinet teacher that can keep me challenged, hopefully to the extent that a performance major would be challenged. Someone in northern or middle NJ would be great, but, hey, New Jersey's a small state, and I'm willing to travel for quality teaching! If anyone has any recommendations, please send them my way! Thanks!

Karl Herman is a great teacher. He is principal clarinet with the New Jersey Symphony. He lives outside of Newark I believe.

If Ron Ruben is still private teaching in Philadelphia I'd drive 500 miles roundtrip just to squeeze an hour a month with him. An absolutely superb player/mentor and 30+ year industry giant in his own right. v/r

If you're willing to do the work, you can't go wrong by calling David Hattner. He's a rare combination terrific player AND teacher. He plays all over NY and NJ and has a killer clarinet quartet....

Thanks guys! You're all great players and friends, but I'm not taking any new students for a while. Luckily, I've been too busy with the playing scene to devote enough time to teaching.
Hopefully I'll be back at teaching soon...I'll let you know.
