Just got back from Muzet. They took a look at the clarinets and told me it would be $300 to fix either of them as they need new corks, pads, etc. They were not interested in a trade. For that kind of money I'd rather look into buying a used upright piano and taking some lessons along with my six year old. Oh well, it was at least worth a try. Thanks again, Barb

Try other places for estimates for a fix up on the clarinets.
And where on earth can you get a decent used piano for $300 that won't need at least that much more in repair, tune-up, and cost to move it?

Look for an independent repair shop. In the midwest $300 would be very, very high for clarinet pads, corks and adjustment. By the way, I'd shop around for the sax rental for your child.
