I've never played them, although, I thought the were written for trumpet. It really doesn't matter since arrangers transcirbe materials orignally written for other instruments all the time. Since I've personally not played them I can't answer your question directly, but if you are intrigued by them, then go for it.

They are written for all treble clef instruments (in one book) and they seem to be really helpful. Some text on mixed, odd meters but mainly just good exercises. Still in print, not hard to find. I think I got mine at Eble Music.

I think these etudes are fine, but there are two books of etudes I like better that are specifically written for clarinet. Both are published by Leduc and available at Eble Music. One is by Marcel Bitsch, the other is by Jeanine Rueff.
