Hi, how good is say a Selmer Paris Prologue Series to say a Selmer USA 210 clarinet??

The Prologue is a professional clarinet whereas the CL210 (now CL211) is an intermediate model.
The Selmer website (http://www.selmer.com/) should help you with some of you questions. As well, putting all of your related questions (about the Prologue, for instance) into one post might make answering easier. Thanks.

Hi there,
I'm also possibly looking at what is advertised as a Selmer Prologue but as I'm not too clued up on this I could be wrong. The seller has told me that the serial number is F7313 - can anyone tell the age of the isntrument from this information?

If you're looking at buying a Prologue then make sure you get a trial term with it so you can return it, since, as you must have noted by the lack of responses to 3 separate postings, it's not a real popular model anywhere. Doesn't mean it isn't any good, just not popular.

Yes, there has to be a test. Alot of players seem to be of the opinion the Prologue is not so good, but I love mine and it works well...

As usual when there is a posting about the Selmer Prologue, I like to remind the estimated readers that the Prologue is now being discontinued in Europe by Selmer Paris and replaced by the Odyssée

The Prologue has a .563 bore, comapered to the .573 bore of the C210, both being a little smaller than the Buffet R13. I would say it should be better since it is a pro line clarinet. The Prologue has some mechanical features that are distinctive of the pro lines, whereas the C210 has more features distinctive of an intermdiate line clarinet.

Thanks to everyone who actually gave me some useful information. I'm just trying to make sure I do the right thing before buying yet another uselss clarinet. An oppurtunity presented itself and I'm just trying to see if it is the lcarinet for me. Sorry if some of you are sick of talking about this clarinet. If you are, then please save yourself the trouble and don't read what I write!!

Yes those in the industry change product lines all the time...there may be quite a few Prologues left in inventories though....
