Does anybody know how to simulate a yodel on a clarinet? I'd like to play Frank Ifield's yodels in "I Remember You" for instance. If I can get that down I mught tackle Jimmie Rodgers' songs.

You might be able to get something close to Frank's yodels but, Jimmie Rogers?... welllll, I dunno about that....
You can do something like a yodel in the upper register. Maybe lower register too, I don't know - never tried that. But, yeah, yodel effect... it's possible. Play any note, say between fourth space C and fifth line F or maybe G, then raise first or second left hand finger and close it again quickly. I haven't studied this extensively but I sometimes get interesting effects noodling around that way. As you can tell from this response, I'm rather easily entertained :]

Neil -
Actually, Shepherd on the Rock has a restrained form of yodeling in it. When done right, the soprano sings the lower note in chest voice and pops up a tenth into head voice, and you have to produce the same effect on the clarinet. It's not easy to make the switch sound effortless and "yodely" - one of several bits that make the piece deceptively difficult.
I don't have the Spohr 6 German Songs with me, but I think one of them has some yodeling effects, too. GBK will know.
Best regards.

Like the Shadow -- GBK... knows
I'm sure there a lots of mordants and tremolos and stuff, written and unwritten, that will keep us all busy for a very long time.

Ken...My copy of the Spohr Op. 103 was recently lent out to a student (morale: always have 2 copies), but if I remember correctly (?) the songs with the more florid clarinet writing are the odd numbered ones (1, 3, 5). I'm fairly sure that "yodel effects" (skips larger than an octave) could be found in those pieces. I will check the printed music, as soon as possible...GBK
