I just had my new Buffet Prestige bass clarinet (model 1193-2) worked at the music store where I purchased it by a repair technician who used to work at the Libertyville Buffet distribution facility before they moved to California. My botton line E, F and G were a bit flat and stuffy and, by repairng a tiny leak, raising some of the tone pads and undercutting some tone holes, he completely corrected the flateness and the tone qualities of those notes (without throwing high B and C out of whack) My instrument is now just about perfect, thanks to his masterfull workmanship. I know that we are not supposed to "promote" on this board. But, it is also nice to be able to share helpful information whenever possible--so, if anybody wants further info, please email me direct and I will supply his name and place of employment.

How fun, a new bass clarinet. Is this the model you asked about earlier that had changes made to the keywork? Finding a great repair person is like finding a good car repair person. Notice how PC I am? Hope you like your new bass. I bought the Prestige in 1997 and have absolutley loved it. And aren't they just about the prettiest basses you have ever laid eyes on?
Congratulations on the new "baby".
