Oh my am I ever a nerd. For my 43rd birthday I am asking to go to Music Camp. It is the same camp I attended in 1976...do the math, I was a teenager then. Planning to go to International Music Camp on the US/Canadian border. Anyone been there in the last 26 years?
It was quite spartan and a bit militaristic in those days...complete with taps and revellie (sp).

I taught clarinet at that camp during the summer of 93 session, and I believe they were still doing the taps and revellie routines for the students. When I was taught there is 1969, they woke the instructors that way also. Expect to find the paths between the huts to be blacktoped instead of gravel (mud in the rain). Also, the new Recital Hall right across from the Merton Uttgardt Administration Bldg should be finished. The instructional regime is still the same as it was--levels of theory to pass, lessons, rehearsals, master classes and recitals from 8AM until 9PM with time off for lunch and dinner in the mess hall. Trips to the landramate in Dunseith and an occassional trip to a music store in Minot. The IMC is most likely, 99% the wonderful music camp that you remember it to be. Joe Alme is now the camp director. BTW, there is an adult (community) band camp offered this year from July 27 through the 30th. Have a lot of fun!!!!
