I recently acquired a Buffet clarinet with very odd keys. Serial number says 1A 727. I've tried Sneezy's lists- but can't find a 1A. Any one with more information?
It says "Made In France" "HP".
Thank you
Kathy

It's probably an Albert System.
I was looking in my fiancé's boss's "Melody Maker" collection... and Albert system clarinets were made well into the 30's.

An Albert system? You mean a totally different fingering system than I'm used to. Any idea where I might find more information on the Albert system. The clarinets (3 of them-an A a C and a Bb) all are about the same time period. As a matter of fact, they were all in the same case. It held all three. My guess is that it belonged to a professional player many many years ago. When I rescued them, they had mold growing out from the key pads. The case is awful too- but it may give me more information.
Anyway, the albert system?
