i just saw in the muncy catalog that they're offering plating for theri bonade lgis
gold is an extra $20 and silver $10
any of you get this done?
do they do a good job?

u think there's any way that I can silver plate my lig by myself? maybe by finding like a jeweler or soemthing that's willing to do it for less than $10?

You may do, but it will probably be plating that is may times thinner and will wear through (simply from handling) in no time. Gold and silver are very soft and must be thick to last.

I saw some of these ligatures a while back. One complaint I had with one I saw was that the screws may have been left in while the plating was done. When you backed out these screws either some plating came off or they were not completely plated to begin with. Of course this is merely a cosmetic thing.

Many people say plating materials do not matter. But when I play gold platged and laquered saxophone, the difference is conspicuous. The gold plated one sounds far louder. Platinum would be still louder.
I somewhat feel my gold plated Bonade sounds fuller than my nickel plated Bonade.

I have a silver plated Bonade and it's great-Muncy did a great job on the plating-I think it's worth it!
