Hi,
Does anyone have a Portnoy ligature that they want to sell. I have even contacted BP himself and he said he did not have one but that I should use a Bonade it was about the same thing.
I have been playing a BP02 mouthpiece, and loving it, since they came out and would like to have a "matched set."

A psychological plus, but in reality, perhaps only "cosmetic." Bernard once told me--a a convention in Chicago, Il.--that no matter whose mouthpiece you play, you always will resort to "your own" sound eventually. Larry Combs stated as much in a clinic and it has been my experiance as well. And, I suspect the same principal also applies to the ligiture one uses--especially if you are into balancing and adjusting your reeds to a particular mouthpiece. The "sound in your head" will eventually prevail. FYI--for the Bonade result, without the eternal adjustment hassel, try the VD Optimum ligiture with it's parallel rail insert. Pricey, but good.

Or try the Peter Spriggs ligature. Much lighter than the VD Optimum.

Hi William,
Thanks for the psychological profile info. I'm not sure that we regress to the mean (personal sound-wise) like BP and LC suggest but it makes for interesting dialogue.
