Help! Can anyone tell me what model Buffet this clarinet is ? the serial number is 283049 - it is grenadilla, in a brown leather like case, does not have adjustable thumb rest, appears to be nickel plated keys, not very old , Thanks very much for help or direction.

your clarinet is manufactured 1986, but no more information with the serial number. Try directly with buffet at their website:

This is an inexperienced music store looking for a cheap education.
Why not just start with a tag line; "What's it worth"?
Do your own homework.

further - so what? If someone who may not be "in the know" asks a valid question seeking enlightenment, and if that person is in music sales - I can't see why it's an issue?

good points diz. I have an R13 in the same s/n realm and believe the date sounds about right...no adj. thumb rest was common back then i guess. I put the adj.t.r. from my new E-11 on it.

If your Buffet just says Buffet (i.e. does NOT say RC or Evette, etc) and has no model number on it (i.e. does NOT say E-13), then with that serial number, it is an R-13.
