I just got this knife off ebay.
can you identify it? like brand, etc? is this a good knife?
by the way, it's single hollow ground. the handle is made from some kind of wood, either black or painted black.

There's nothing like going out on a limb, GBK, you do it so well (did make me chuckle, though). I'd be VERY nervous about a slap on the wrist for that one - naughty man.

After careful examination I can definitely state that it is not a boy scout knife. (The black handle had me fooled for awhile.)

Looks like an older Prestini model. I have on similar except mine has a natural finish to the wood. I find it very inferior in holding an edge. I got mine in an oboe "kit" consisting of mandrel, plaque, and cutting block. I never use the knife opting for my Vitry instead. It holds a superior edge.
