A friend just clued me in that Richard Stolzman and Emanuel Axe will be offering a recital in our fair city next April. Tuesday, April 15th--I'll be there!
A truly "hair-brained" idea just popped into my head. What do you folks think think the chances are of somehow arranging a master class of some sort in conjunction with his visit? Does he do such things and if so, how in the world does one go about arranging something like that?
Thanks.

i remember Mr Stolzmann being quite reticent where master classes were concerned- i played for him some years ago, and my teacher had to really pull strings to get it to happen... however, that was about 6 years ago, so maybe things have changed.
... if Richard McDowell is still the head honcho in Austin, he would be the man to do the job, yes?

I think McDowell is still the prof there, but as far as I know, he's on sabbatical this year. My friend, Gabriela Cohen, has been his replacement this year...

Stolzman just recently gave a master class at Wyane State University so he does do them. I knew the people he played for and they were happy with his teachings.

Awesome! I live part of each week in Austin and will look forward to hearing more about this--not to mention I'll plan to attend.
