I have written a song and will be attempting to write lyrics for it. Have others tried this? If so, what has been your experience? Have you attempted to get it published?
Thanks, Howard

I have never attempted publishing, but what I do is as I go through every day life, I will keep the song in the back of my mind. Eventually something will inspire me, and I will base the words on that. I also write out the basic words/plot/whatever, depending on the music, then I get the rythm to match the music, rather than writing it to meet the beats.

You need to buy a bunch of books on getting published and learn about the industry. Very rarely does anyone write one song and gets it published. Most professional song writers will tell you that you need to write 200 songs and maybe you'll get one or two good ones out of the group. If you have an nack for writing songs keep writing. One of my secret professions in my next life is to be a song writer. But in this life I don't have the temperment to write a couple of songs a week. A very good book on song writing is Jimmy Webb's book called "Tune Smith". It came out two years ago along with a CD that has his version of his hit songs (and he wrote a lot of hit songs). Good luck and keep writing! Paul
