I borrowed an A clarinet from my school.
It's has a gold buffet stamp with "LP H. Bettoney" printed under the stamp. It also says, "Boston, MA" (and yes, i am in the boston area)
I can't seem to find a serial number. Maybe it was rubbed off. The Bettoney stamps are also hard to read and are starting to wear down.
I'm thinking of doing an overhaul, but i have no idea how. I dont want to spend th emoney on a professional overhaul, so any of you have any tips?

To me this is a no-brainer. You don't know how to do an overhaul and, even if you did, you don't own the clarinet. Don't mess with it. Too many things could go wrong. If the clarinet needs work done, ask the school to have it repaired.
Best regards,
jnk

Remind me not to loan you my car. It needs a tune-up. Are you a qualified auto mech., also?

Probably dates from 1920s-30s. Not worth much on the market. Will be worth even less if incompetently repaired (not to imply anything, mind you........we've already beaten you up enough!)
