The B.B.C. Philharmonic (based in Manchester, England) issues the following challenge to any other orchestra in the world:-
We have just bought a VERY large silver(ish) trophy and had it engraved "Inter-orchestral Unicycle Hockey Challenge Cup"
We intend to have it engraved "Winners B.B.C. Philharmonic" every year until we receive a challenge from any other orchestra!
Teams should be 5 players (either sex) on standard unicycles with street skater-hockey sticks on a tennis-court size pitch.
All players must be regular orchesta-members.
Suspiciously long-haired or multi-pierced team-members may be asked to provide proof of musical ability.
We've tried football, golf, cricket etc. but not found anything we're any good at. This is our last, great, hope!
E-mail replies eagerly awaited to me please.
(2 of our team are clarinettists)

Can we have joint training sessions before working out whether we should enter?

Is there an age limit? There are actually 7 people in our youth orchestra who can ride unicycles, and I think at least 5 of them are somewhat talented at most sports. I may take you up on that challenge!

Dammit, Cindy, we thought we'd be safe with this one.
I suppose we'll have to make it professional orchestras only if we want to hang on to it.
Nice to hear you've got unicyclists in your orchestra. Have you tried it yourself? It's great for posture, back problems etc. Better than a course of Alexander technique IMHO.
