hi,
any suggetions for dt on the high notes? I can do it okay up to f or g on the top of the staff, but any higher and i sound awful.

For me, it just took a lot of practice. My problem area is still F-F#-G above high C, but I am getting much better. After high C, try DA-GA DA-GA for a smoother effect. Also try playing with your tongue arched in back of your mouth like you were imitating a cats hiss. This will focus and speed up the air stream to improve your overall sound and make those high notes more responsive on the GA articulative motion. A well balanced and responsive reed is also necessary for successful articulation in the higher registers. On a good day, I can DT from low E up to double high C chromatically and back down in one breath. Keep praticing and do be discouraged by the "awful" sounds. They will get better. Also try triple tongued scales (TA-TA-KA TA-TA-KA)--it will help your double efforts. Good Clarineting!!!

The above exercise are all great. One thing I have found is the success of double tongueing above the break depends on the balance of the reed. If you know that you are going to use a lot of Dt in this register for a particular performance try a half strength lower reed and lighten up the TA park to balance the softer KA. Remember that the TA sound starts at the tip of the tongue and the KA with the arched outer edges half way back in some cases a couple of inches further back so is slower to speak. You have to match the TA to the KA which usually means laying of the TA a bit.
Just a few thoughts.
