I'm a university music major. I play a leblanc concerto, and recently I've been using a viotto GI mouthpiece. I find I play right on pitch or a little flat with a 65mm barrel. I play a lot of jazz, and I usually need to play a bit sharp.
Does anyone play a viotto GI and have the same problem?
What makes a mp flat, is it the long facing?
I like the open viotto, what would compare to this, but raise the pitch?
thanks

That's strange because everyone that plays a viotto that I know including myself, have found they are quite sharp and some of us have had to order 67mm barrels for Bb and 66mm for A. My teacher has actually found he is so sharp that he is now using a 68mm on his Bb.

On my old [1920s] Conn cl [in C], I found it was flat [about 435]. It [still] has the already-short barrel, so instead of cutting down the barrel, I experimented with shortening the mouthpiece about 2 mm [both tenon and body] which put it up to 440 [+?] satisfactorily. Since then [on my Bbs], I measure and label mp length to match barrel length to find the combined length suitable to the tuning needs. Works for me! Don

I am surprised the Vioto is as low as that, and possiblility that the clarinet is low with another model of mouthpiece is worth investiagating. some players tend to find certain tip openings promote low pitch, so with all the variables its worth looking into closer.
