Actually, Marks Music still has some available in very limited strengths (and mostly the German cut, rather than the French cut), but from what I've been told from colleagues, and Maria Marks, is that the Morrés that are remaining are the "newer" old stock, not the "older" old stock.
Bottom line: the remaining stock has been pretty much picked over...GBK

Linus, they were just the best reeds ever! I studied with Debbie Alexander who taught (I don't know if she's still there) at Marks Music. This was way back when I was in high school, and I sort of became the de facto Morre supplier to Oberlin clarinetists while I went there. Whenever I went home for a visit, my friends always wanted me to buy some for them! There was just something about those reeds and the cane from which they were made, that made them superb! The Vandoren V12 has a similar shape and profile, but they are DEFINITELY nowhere near as good as the "old" Morres were. Must be their cane! Or maybe the little man only putting one good reed in a box! ;-)

I use Marca's and V-12's most of the time, now and occasionally break open a box. Morre's were great.

FWIW, one correction to the earlier thread referenced above by Gregory Smith:
Carl Marks, Jr. (not Sr.) was Marcellus' (and Bonade's) student. Carl Sr. founded the Marks Concert Band in Farrell, Pa. (There is a picture on the Marks' Music website dating from 1929 so the band goes back at least that far.) If my arithmetic's right, Carl Jr. wasn't born until around 1936. Carl, Jr. founded the store. The current owner of the store is Carl, III. Nice folks all.
