I bought a mariguax clairnet, and just kept the mouth piece that came w/ it. Are these generally quality mouth pieces? Would you recommend that I buy a better/different one?

I can't say for sure because I never played one, but my guess is you can find something better. I'd try a Vandoren B45. See what kind of a difference YOU feel. I play a Genusa mouthpiece and love it, haven't switched in 6, no 7 years. wow, maybe we BOTH should start trying mouthpieces!

I'd say you could probably find a better one. Usually the mouthpieces that come with the instrument are mediocre but I've never tried that paticular type so yours could be an exception but I'm sure you would be happier getting a new one that fits you tastes. Try a Vandoren out, I have a Vandoren B45, which is the one I use normally and a 5RV that I use when I play really high notes on the clarinet. hope I could help you! :)
