Hi everyone, I have been accepted to few colleges and now are decideing where to go. I have two choices Boston University and Carnegie Mellon University. I got into their college of science, but I realize that I want to also minor/major in performing music. More sepcifically, minor/major in flute. I was looking at their web pages and saw that the audition deadline was a while ago. What can I do? I want to continue playing flute in college, and play in ensembles. Thank you for any help.

In your situation, I think the best place to get accurate information is from the folks who make the rules. Contact the music departments at the two schools, tell them you have been admitted to their college of science, and ask them what options are open to you for music study and performance. Unless someone who follows this board happens to be a member of the music faculty or administration at one of these two schools, the advice you receive here will only be speculation -- and probably of little value.
BTW, congratulations on being accepted to two first rate universities.
Best regards,
jnk

You probably need to follow Jack's (excellent) advice this coming week as I suspect the answer might impact on your decision of where to attend, and most colleges seem to have a May 1 deadline for notification.
Good Luck!

congratulations! both are great schools with high standards. keep in mind that the selection process is difficult for the admissions office. once you have been selected they really want to have you accept. jack's advice is the best and "right on target". contact the schools (music dept) and address your concerns with them. they will work with you. do it fast.
