what kind of japanese clarinet products are out there? ligatures, etc.

since the japanese have superior engineering and technology compared to Europeans/US, i was wondering if they had any good products that i would be able to obtain here in the US.

japanese people are sooo weird!

85% of homes have computers. like 80% of japanese homes have broadband internet connections.

their kids (including "remedial" math students) study calculus in middle school.

most homes also have these neat hi-tech bath tubs. When you are sitting, the water goes up to your neck. They have heaters so you can choose the water temperature so that it doesn't get cold. They have alarm clocks, stereo systems, pH measuring thingies, automatic bubble bath soap dispenser things, those jacuzzi bubble shooting things. The upper middle class bath tubs even have waterproof TVs and phones!

their toilets are weird tho. when you flush, they shoot a warm stream of water at your you-know-what and then blow dry it so u dont use toilet paper. i guess it's more hygienic, but i find that a bit creepy.

by the way...i had a WONDERFUL vacation in japan! i hope to go back this summer.

Sure they do. Is that why their economy has been in the tank over the last few years? It's not the 80's any more.

Uh, we're kinda drifting off subject a little. I have heard Japaneese flutes are good, but I can't say anything about the clarinets.

Ab - Yamaha makes very fine clarinets, from their modest student models to their professional clarinets. They also make and abundance of "supporting equipment". Try looking at their website - it's full of interesting facts.

I was stationed in Japan for four years as a clarinet player. I visited many music stores, but don't recall ever seeing any uniqully Japenese equipment other than their own brands of horns. Reeds, mouthpieces, etc were all of Western origin.

Don Quijote,
Pourquoi vous dites "mon oeil" et nous, les anglais, "my foot?"
