 Selmer Consul

Hi, new here so forgive me if I'm asking a frequent/stupid question.

I have an old wooden Bb, Boehm-system Selmer clarinet, labelled Selmer, London Foreign. Serial no, in the region of 9***. It has been overhauled and plays, but before inflicting it on the kids and/or investing in a decent mouthpiece, I would like to know whether it might just be better to invest in a modern intermediate model.

thanks in advance for all comments
