 Books with Rhapsody in Blue
Author: Jonathan

Hey, thanks for reading this:

Would you happen to know of any books(methods, orchestral, etc.) that would have the Clarinet arrangement for Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," particularly the solo in the beginning. Or if you know where I might be able to obtain the sheet music for the clarinet part, I'd be most appreciative.

Thank you for your time, have a nice day,

Jonathan

Jonathan - Kalman Bloch's "The Orchestral Clarinet" vol III has short piece dedicated to the opening cadenza and a good resume of technique required and suggestions for playing.
Now, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "clarinet arrangement"
There are arrangements for clarinet and piano, but the one I have is not in the orig key, so is unlikely to be useful to you if you're to be playing the piece orchestrally.

Thanks, Bob,

Yeah, I've heard of Kalman Bloch's "The Orchestral Clarinet" vol III. I was also wondering about a book called, "Second Book of Clarinet Solos (clarinet/piano)" and the table of contents has "Rhapsody in Blue"; would you happen to know if that book has the clarinet solo found at the beginning or is it just a duet for clarinet and Piano.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Can't you see about borrowing the clarinet part from an orchestra or a collector of some sort? Depending on what it's needed for.. that may be a viable option..

Jonathan,

I have the Second book of clarinet solos. Yes, it has the beginning thru end of RIB. It is a condensed version so you have to know the piece to know where we "kick in".

the second book of solos has Rib but it is only 6 lines. I believe it is the beginning.
