Howdy All.
Okay, im playing first clarinet, and the other person that is playing it, doesnt really know how to play it, so pretty much im playing the whole thing. And her clarinet falls apart everyday, so itz alwayz me that plays it. And therez this one part where there is a very high G, and i can never play it in tune. They took me out of that part until i can play it, does anyone have any good ideas for how to play a high G in tune.....and by the way, itz a whole note it lasts for about 2 measusers, so itz really hard. They keep telling me to relax my throat, and drop my jaw, but then im just super flat.

Try fingering that "high G" this way: TR XOX XXO Eb (instead of TR OXO XXO). Another "good" fingering is simply: TR XOO OOO Eb. These are both fingerings that I use all the time to help bring the sharpness of high G down a bit. Listening with embouchure control is also recommended. Hope this helps--Good clarineting (up there)

Are you sure your flat? If you are, make sure that you are keeping you lower lip firm and the corners of your mouth pointed inward and most importantly a strongly supported airstream (I don't mean loud). Also, really try and relax your throat as mentioned above. You can't literally 'open' your throat because all of the muscles in your throat are constricter muscles, but relaxing them creates the open airway that you are looking for. Your tongue position needs to be high (think EEEEE, but with the corners of your mouth pointed inwards it comes out more UUUUU) as you play in the altissimo register. Finally, don't get too funky with the fingering that you choose. Fix the other things first. I would recommend
TR XOX XOX Eb (generally lowest pitch and darkest) or
TR OXO XOX Eb or
TR XOO XOX Eb

I've just recently been successful with the high G with this fingering that William suggested:
TR XOO OOO Eb
By far, it's the easiest for me. Basically, it's an overblown B natural and I can get it right in tune nearly all the time. Try it.
