I just have to say that it is such an adrenaline rush to perform for concerts. It's wonderful to just follow a good conductor and play from the heart. We did 3 tonight for Good Friday services at my church and the music was fairly difficult at times. The composer (Greg Nelson) was there with us and was impressed with how we did it.
One more concert tomorrow afternoon with another group - Handel's Messiah - Parts 2 and 3. (Did that one twice already last weekend.)
Happy Easter all...

Do you have a clarinet part in Messiah? (There was none in the original.) or are you singing. Messiah is probably my favorite choral work to perform (I sing) and in my opinion, parts 2 & 3 are the best of the work. I especially like to sing the final chorus sequence; Worthy... Blessings.. and Amen. Sadly, (at least around here) most often only part one is done with Halleuajah added at the end.
I'll be singing "Halleuajah" during the services on Sunday (twice.)

The orchestra is actually using 2 editions of the Messiah. Most are using the Calmus (sp?) and the flutes, clarinets, french horn are using the Shirmer. From what I understand Mozart added woodwind parts later. They fit together pretty well. Plus, our conductor has us only playing on the chorus', not the arias or recitatives.
