 Swabs

This may be a elementary question,(I'm playing again after several years) but I've recently bought a LeBlanc "wood pro" Dynamic. I'm wondering what would be the best wipe/swab to use on the moisture in the connecting sections?. I've been using kleenex and I feel that I'm wiping away some of the grease.

Thanks!
Sue

The grease should be wiped away. If it gets too hard to put together, simply apply fresh cork grease when you assemble it.

When I have my clarinet worked on my technician has something that strips off all the built up old grease. I can ask him what it is.

Brings up a good point. That sticky, smelly, petroleum based "chap stick" that many use is bathing the inside of the socket and wood grain ends of the tenon (unless you have caps - then it just soaks in an accumulates under the metal). A paper towel has enough abrasiveness not to harm the wood or cork and will remove a lot of that ugly stuff from both the cork and the wood. It still does not stop it from soaking into the wood over time but every little bit of removal helps.
