Hi everyone, I have to write prog notes for my recital, and I can't find anything on Muczynski, Time Pieces or Laporte, Reflections. Does anyone have any info?
Thanks

Robert Muczynski(bn.1929)
He Writes the following notes about Time Pieces:
"Time Pieces was commisioned by Mitchell Lurie to whom this work is dedicated. Mitchell Luri and I present the world premiere performance in London, August 15,1984, at the Clarinet Congress of the International Clarinet Society.
"This composition is a Suite of four contrasting pieces, each highlighting some specific characteristic of the clarinet in terms of range, technical prowess, color and expressiveness. There are moments when the clarinet plays alone, without need of piano accompaniement;e.g.,the final movement is introduced by solo clarinet in a brooding, pensive statement that gains in intensity and momentum and leads directly to the "Allegro energico,"a dance-like rondo where the clarinet and piano are reunited. A clarinet cadenza(furioso)emerges. Motives and figures are elaborately developed followed by a finel statement shared by both instruments.
"The title of the work, Time Pieces, has nothing to do with mechanical clocks or watches. It is not a play on words but rather an awareness of the fact that everything exists in time: history, our lives and, in a special way, music."
I hope that this will help you.
