Hi-I was wondering where I can a copy of the music for La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin by Debussy-the arrangement I am talking about is the one heard on Emma Johnson's CD, La Clarinette Francaise. The arranger of the piece is Gordon Back-and I was wondering if his arrangement is in print. Thank you

At the IMS clinic Saturday, Gregory Smith talked about "finding your voice", finding that musician who is your "aha", who touches you like others don't. Emma Johnson is that clarinetist to me. Go to the website below and you can get a book of some of those arrangements that she plays on her Encores and Encores 2 cds. La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin is among them. (While I'm not nearly good enough yet to play many of the pieces included in this book, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I listen to the cd on the train during my daily commute and follow along with the music.)
Hope this helps.

It's originally a piano piece. Any sheet music store will have an arrangement. Often it will be under the English translation, "The Girl With the Flaxen Hair."
If you want the particular arrangement on the record, go to the "arrangements" page on the Emma Johnson website: http://www.zadok.demon.co.uk/emmapubsnf.html. I found it in just a few seconds on Google....
Best regards.

Ken,
I probably am being stupid, but I couldn't find the arrangement page on her website. Did I miss it? (It IS time for a break!)
Thanks

I recently found a booklet with 6 Debussy pieces arranged for piano and Bb clarinet. It includes "Claire de Lune", En Bateau", La fille au cheveux de lin", Le petit Negre", :Golliwog's Cake-walk", and Syrinx (solo piece). The arranger is Sidney Lawton. Publisher is Novello Publishing Limited - London. Cost was $14.00.
