I believe it's an old "Alfred System" clarinet --- designed for people from Alpha Centauri whose hands are reversed compared to human hands.

So, I've finally seen it. Many years ago, I heard rumors of a special Clarinet made to order (by Couesnon) especially for the little-renowned Klezmer player, Yitzhak "Lefty" Liebowitz, whose primary misfortune was having been born with two right hands. This may well be that very instrument -- although I've always assumed it was not a Boehm. Live and learn.
Joking aside, this could be a pretty good item, if it'll ever again go together properly.

Hey, - he got 50% of the clarinet assembled correctly.
What troubles me more is that the clarinet may be made of "ironwood"???? ...GBK

This is, in fact, a rare clarinet designed by Fontaine to be played by two players at once. It has been assembled 90% correctly, with the exception that there should be another mouthpiece where the seller placed the bell. No wonder he couldn't get a sound out of it..... :o)
