Hello
A warning to fellow Aussies:
If you purchase a clarinet from someone overseas - you will need to pay GST (possible) and Import Taxes (definite) on it if the value is greater than $AU1000. Your instrument will be held by Australian Customs until you arrange a brooker to organise its release (a relatively painless process).
I would never suggest anyone cheats the ATO out of money, just bear in mind that there is a $1000AU cut-off point.
*sigh* - my baby will be with me soon!! I knew I should have lied and said it was only worth $2.50!
This applies to any goods (by the way) including stuff purchased off EBay.

Good question - don't know the answer to that - but I guess the government wouldn't give a pigs' bladder whether it's a gift or not. I should find that out.
