I am looking for a piece in a minor key that really works with an audience, that when played well, will make them cry, well the auditions board at least. Anyone got any ideas?

A great work doesn't necessarily need to be in minor to stir the emotions of the listener.
Case in point: "Andante" from La Forza del Destino (Verdi).
One of the great emotional / heroic clarinet solos.
I still vividly remember Morales performing it as his encore selection at one of the Clarinetfests.
After his final note, the emotional impact of that performance stunned the audience so, that there was initially a period of total silence, before the audience eventually erupted .
A truly breathtaking experience for all...GBK

GBK wrote "...that there was initially a period of total silence, before the audience eventually erupted."
That reminds me of that saying from a famous French author, someting like: "After you have heard a work by Mozart, the silence that follows, this is still by Mozart!"
So that total silence was still by Verdi/Morales!

Speaking of Mozart, though it's not minor, the Adagio of the Clarinet Concerto is still one of the most emotionally moving pieces I've ever heard. Of course, it's up to you to *make* it moving, and not just yet-another-performance-of-the-Mozart. ;-)
