 The ultimate in toe tapping

A few posts ago foot tapping was discussed ---Last year I attended a workshop on the evolution of Boogie and Blues conducted by Andrew Ogburn where his technic of foot tapping has to be the ultimate in the extreme. His left foot was used to great effect to thump the wooden stage floor to produce a rhytmic base accompaniment for his Piano playing --- he did get some amazing accoustics from the stage floor. The session was entertaining as well as informative and needed to be seen/heard to be believed. I thought this might be interesting bearing in mind the earlier comments on toe tapping.

Was he banging the floor with the sole of his shoe, or with the heel?

The honour of performing the ultimate toe-tap surely belongs to the French (actually Italian-born) composer Lully. He conducted by banging a stave on the ground. One day he bashed his foot, it went septic, and he died.

He was 'banging' the floor with the sole of his shoe and I estimated he was raising his foot about eight inches between beats and with some of the Boogie the beats were coming loud and fast.
