 Resell Value?
Author: Tamara

I recently got a pretty decent deal on a Selmer Prologue at a local music store but now my conscious is eating at me over the money i've spent and i've started to consider selling it. I'm not posting it for sale here so don't flame me ; ) i'm just wondering what the ball park figure is that i could ask for it. It's only been played a handful of times and looks absolutely perfect even though it's a few years old. The wood appears to be a bit dry because it's been sitting alot in storage, any suggestions on how to recondition it? Thanks for any input : )

Hi, Tamara :)
Just a thought;
You can ask anything you want. How 'bout starting at what you paid for it, plus 5% ?
If the pads and corks are reasonably clean and it plays nice, I wouldn't do anything to 'recondition' it.

Would that the world be so nice ... on clarinets the value in general tends downward, not upward.

I know, Mark, but dreams are still free... [What? Me worry? :] I said 'start' at....
First of all; I have no idea what Tamara paid for the instrument. Maybe it was a Big Deal Discount. Sure... right :|
Second; You can always come down, it's very difficult to go UP.

I paid $950 for it, so 5% extra would put it right at $1000. And yes, the pads and corks are clean, very clean in fact, it's only been played a handful of times. I got such a good deal on it because they've had it for almost 3 years and couldn't sell it, so when i called around looking specifically for that model they cut me a deal. There's not a big demand for professional model clarinets in Kentucky apparently : )
