Okay well I'm sure people are tired of hearing about my double reed fiascos, but does anyone know of anywhere or any people I might be able to contact on ICQ or AIM about bassoons? My taking up the oboe has made my boyfriend insterested in music again and he wants to take up the bassoon, and I'm giving him a refresher corse on the little things about music, so I'd also like to learn more about said instrument.
Also, *an actual clarinet question! Be amazed! =)* My mouthpiece is getting rather beat up and I was wondering if there's a paticular replacement type that's good? I have a yamaha plastic clarinet...also I was wondering if I should invest in one of the "black liguitures" (as I horribly butcher spellings) that are supposed to make your clarinet sound darker, or is using the original one my clarinet came with fine?

Mouthpeices... Oh joy, don't get us started!! There have been a million posts on mouthpeices. If you peform a search you'll find whatever you need.
If you want to save money, and still have a "better" ligature, I would suggest doing a search on "shoestring". A shoestring igature is, well, just that. Go to Wal-Mart, buy shoelaces, and Tie a lace around the mouthpeice. Most of the time - if not all - you will have a wonderful ligature for next to no money. Pros and cons of shoestring, well... you'll have to run a search on Sneezy for those. It's not exactly darker, but it's more free, and it's become my ligature of choice.
Sorry. I don't know of any bassoon sites out there.

The plastic Yamaha mouthpieces at around $20 are not bad, and every musical instrument store stocks them. I noticeable step up would be the student mouthpieces available from Sneezy sponsors such as Fobes, Hite, Pyne at $30-40.
You should have at least one spare metal ligature. Most of the time, I use a Martin -- dead cheap and very light, which lets the reed vibrate better, at least for me.
For a "black" ligature, try out the standard Rovner, which has a solid band all the way around, and the Rovner Lite, which has two narrow bands across the reed. I prefer the Lite, but it's a very individual thing, depending on your mouthpiece, reeds, instrument and style of blowing. Also, the price is reasonable.
I'd stay away from the more expensive black ligatures such as Vandoren or BG for a while. They have a lot of fans, but I've found that, for me, they don't any better than the Rovners, and often worse.
When you try out ligatures, you should, as David suggests, learn to use string and use that as your point of comparison. For me, the lighter the better.

No you were right. You'd counted 999,997 and that very posting mentioned mouthpieces so that was 999,998. You DO just need 2 more. (1 including this)
