Has anyone had experience with the Vandoren B45lyre mouthpiece.
It has a more open tip than average yet it is still used by classical players. Has anyone tried it with a thin reed e.g. 2.5
for jazz?

As Don Q says, the Vandoren B45 Lyre is very long and very open. If you favor Vandoren, you should start your exploration in the middle, with, say, the 5RV, or the slightly more open 5RV Lyre. That will give you a middle ground so you have a point of reference when you try both closer and more open tips and longer and shorter lays.
This is not to say that you won't end up with the B45 Lyre, but you probably shouldn't start there.

Many thanx for the tabulation which includes facings, Don Q, I also keep trying my many mps to find good matches to my Selmer and LeBlanc sop. cls, several of them being VD's. At this time of unskilled research, I seem to like my 11.6 VD in preference to the 5RV or B45, likely because of facing length. Perhaps VD's 7 lines on the chart of sop. mps in the BW/WW catalog contains facing info as well as tip openings ?? Interesting. Comments? Don
