 Eb Clarinet Crisis

They are not around!!! Why can't I seem to find any Top Line Buffet Eb clarinets around? My friend got lucky and found one of the net, but other than that it is impossible to go to a store and ask for a Buffet Prestige RC, Prestige R13, Leblanc Opus or Concerto. I'm going crazy because I am sopposed to play the treasured solo from belioz's Symphonie Fantastique yet I have no Eb to play it on! Does anyone have one of those Eb's for sale or know someone for sure that would have one? Becuase the big three companies don't have them (Woodwind, International, Muncy).

Why limit yourself to those makers. Try a Selmer like most pro's.

I've played on a LeBlanc E flat and loved it - I havn't tried a Selmer - but I have only the highest praise for their B flats and As.

Might I suggest you also try this BB's classified section - it's where I purchased a clarinet.

I've been playing a Selmer Eb for years.. prior to that I used a college owned Leblanc L7 and before that an ancient Penzel Mueller.

Most of the "pros" that I know...use Buffet's R13 Eb. I don't know of a single "pro" using a Selmer Eb.

Thanks forest. I would have to agree. I don't know any pro's that play on selmer Eb's non the less selmer at all. I have tried them and they seem to very colorless. I want what has worked for my teachers and that is CURRENT (as in opus or concerto) top line Leblanc or Top Line buffet Eb. Thanks for all the info about selmer but im not really that interested in them.

Sean Osborn seemed to be playing one last night with the Tacoma Concert Band. Sounded pretty incredible to me. But then, as they say, wonderful musicians surmount any difficulties.
