Reading through the recent posts on bass clarinets, there
was little discussion of the new 1193 Buffet Bass model.
Many professional bass clarinetists are switching to this
model. It incorperatess many improvments over its predecesor and in my opinion it would be a mistake to overlook testing it before making a decision. Very fine instrument.
Cheers

Do you know what new changes have been added?
There is a big difference between the
1193 and new 1193-2 now being marketed.
It has been impossible to get the newest model
into Canada untill very very recently. Three
months ago I had to go to the US. The Canadian
rep. had told all Canadian distributors it just
was not avaliable for the general market in
Canada yet. So perhaps this new "1193-2" is
the same one just about to be made avaliable here.

Dave,
AFAIK it's not available at all yet; Lawrie Bloom's been testing it for a bit, and it'll be released shortly.
The 1193-2's been available in the US for at least a year.

The 1193-2 is available to the public if you find the right store.. My school just purchased one.. and some of my friends have the new 1193-2.. :-) they are beautiful instruments with great keywork! ;-)
