On the real informal gigs I do with my Big Band, the male vocalist sometimes wears a shirt which proclaims:
"It's ok - I'm with the band"
(Actually he does sing quite well) ...GBK

I had the same experience. I went to try out for 6th grade choir and the director said, "Why don't you play in the band?"

Have you ever gotten the similar shirt, "I AM the band"?
Someone made a name tag like that for me once. I accepted it with less than perfect grace.
