 from crystal to plastic

I play on a crystal mp but I'm seriously thinking about switching to plastic ( I'm looking at vandoren's M13 or M15). What are the things I should start worrying about?? (like you know, prevent it from wraping).

Thanks!!

Besides reducing the chances of it disintegrating when it hits the floor, or having to play outside (which shouldn't matter anyway) and wanting to use a close cousin what benefits of switching do you expect to achieve?

Well, when my teacher played on my mp and I played on hers, she said, "wow, this mp feels really stuffy", and her mp felt really, well, "nonstuffy", after that, I dicided to switch.

If you feel that the crystal mouthpiece is stuffy, why not try refacing it. (Yes, it is possible to reface a crystal mouthpiece) That is the least expensive way to go.

Due to the lack of control in the manufacturing of crystal mouthpieces due to the nature of the material, they can vary widely from superb to downright unplayable.

If refacing is not an option, try a few others of the exact same make and model - there may be a wider variance then you think.

The Vandoren crystal (my main mouthpiece for 30 years) that I use was selected from approximately 20 - 30 different ones. Before finally selecting that "one gem in 30" I noticed that the overall variation between each one was quite considerable...GBK

This "wrap" or do you really mean "warp" thing seems to be becoming a bit of an obsession. Plastic or hard rubber mouthpieces just do not warp by themselves. Any warping is caused by something really obvious as stated by somebody on your other message such as dirct exposure to heat.
