Is there a Clar. Book similar to Teal's (sax)?

Hello,

I'm wondering what any of you would recommend as a good reference-type book for clarinet.

Is there a book for clarinet comparative to Larry Teal's book, "Art of Saxophone Playing?"

*The Art of Clarinet Playing*, by Keith Stein, is similar to the Teale book (and has the same publisher). It's distributed by Warner and is widely available. If you have no local source, try http://www.vcisinc.com which is a good source of clarinet books and others.

"Campione on Clarinet" is another text that seems to be gettin popular. He played with the Cincinnati Symphony and taught a CCM.

Aside from the 2 above mentioned texts, I would also suggest subscribing to "The Clarinet" magazine to stay abreast of all matters and current thoughts pertaining to the clarinet...GBK

Don't know why I didn't, because I usually mention the Stein book and David Pino's book in the same breath. Pino's *The Clarinet and Clarinet Playing* (originally Scribner's, now in papaperback by Dover) is very good, more "text extensive" than Stein's book, and has a sticker price of less than ten dollars. (Pino was a student of Stein; the book is dedicated to him.)

And here's my reminder again: any school with a band or orchestra should have copies of both the Stein and Pino books in its library. The pair can be bought for about twenty dollars. So students, if you have no access to them, please mention this to your Directors and Librarians.
