There were Rovner's advertisements in recent two "Clarinet Magazine"s. From its picture and explanation,it has reed-contact plate added (like BG's) and changed the material of synthetic cloth material. I looked at WWandBW catalogue,and found they do not sell them yet.
Has anyone tried this one? If so,would you inform in this BBS of its feeling? Thank you!

The person that sits below me in band has just bought one. They are amazing. At least I think so because they got rid of that real mellow tone and made in 10x as responsive. I think it plays better, blows easier, is more flexible(stylisticly ?), and has a much fuller sound. I think it is a great improvement but i never really liked the old ones so my veiws on sound are always different than any other clarinet player. I would strongly suggest trying one. Best of luck.

You're speaking of the Eddie Daniels II model. I have been playing one that my teacher gave me for the last year and a half. And until i tried the Floating Rails ligature from Peter Spriggs, i thought it was the next best thing to a Kaspar. But i like the Peter Spriggs as much as Kaspar ligatures. I love the projection the EDII gives. And the tone is crystal clear. My partner just bought a new EDII and they made a few minor changes But it still sounds just as great.
Of all the ligatures available on the market today, i think the EDII and the Peter Spriggs are the best bang for your buck.

I found it to add alot more 'ping' to the sound. It's a little brighter than the EDII and Bay covered that i also play. But i play with a darker sound to begin with so the low degree of brightness from the FR (Floating Rails) Lig brings my sound to an average level of brightness but still dark. if that makes any sense. It also makes my reeds respond much better. I won't know until the fall how the projection is. I don't do much orchestral performing during the summer.

This is not necasaraly the ED II model. Rovner did begin to make a brand new one with different materials and such.

But the only Rovner ad i have seen in The Clarinet has been for their EDII. And i have not seen any new Rovners made of anything other than their synthetic material or with the ED or EDII inserts. What else have they started making?
