Has anyone played on this before? I heard there is supposed to be wonderful feedback on this one. How do they compare to R13s?

Well like many others, I'll say this: It all really depends on how it feels in your hands and how it plays for you.
I played on a Vintage Bb last year, and I must say I loved it. There was something of a natural, almost energizing feel when I played it. It responded a little better than my R13 which I still have, and that's because it was a demo that had been tested by so many people. Imagine how I would have felt after trying one that I selected from a group!
I'm looking to save up for a set of these, Weiner quoted about 38-4000 for a set, maybe I can have them "tweaked" or Brannenized, I've heard they do a wonderful job. I just have to save/raise the funds, and it's hard going on just teaching 8 lessons a week, tho that is all I have time for around classes. Anyways, I'd suggest trying for yourself to see how it feels. As my teacher Dr Pino says, R13s are great horns also, and it's more of a player's preference of one over another most of the time.

I truly love my Buffet Vintage. It feels natural in my hands and is comfortable to play. It was the horn that I bought from Robert Gilbert Woodwinds in LA (1 yeaqr ago) after not playing for thirty years. I have purchased and played with many since but there is something different about this horn (IMHO).
I agree though, it is all in how a horn plays for you. As Ken Shaw would say if it plays good for you, it is good.
