Can anyone suggest a good site for locating a stolen instrument?
A Peter Eaton Elite B flat clarinet Stolen in Brussels, Belgium, last october.

If we'll all take a moment to look upward at our screens, to the right, the little rectangular [jump to ... ] box with a square Go! box to the right of it, you'll find that by scrolling down toward the bottom of the list you come to the word Stolen. It's been there, in one form or another, as long as I've been visiting this site. How many of us use it?

That's my observation too. It's there, the tool, we all see it every time we come here but we don't 'notice' it. It's virtually unused. My question, now that it's been raised, is whether stolen clarinets are just not significant (expensive) enough or the means to recovering them are not practical enough to make a concerted effort to implement something that might be useful. A stolen automobile at, say, a thousand times the price of a clarinet, with a traceable VIN is thousands of times more likely to be found than a clarinet with a serial number made up by and for the convenience of the clarinet maker. There is no state, national or international system of reference that would make ID'ing a clarinet practicable. You could engrave you personal ID or SS number on it. Then, no reputable music store would touch it as a trade-in or buy it as a used instrument.
I don't know what the answer could be. That's probably why there've been so few responses to your query, Bob. We all agree with you - we just have no practical idea of where it should start.

GBK, maybe Mark can list them also as a link. Looks promising, but it is a hodgepodge of all instruments, not just woodwinds.
