Concerto for Bb Clarinet and Military Band in Eb by Rimsky-Korsakov.
Is there any published version of this that a high school band can play?
I asked to my band director and he couldn't find one in his list. Is this piece hard? Thanks for your concern

The R-K Concerto is rather easy to play both for the soloist and for the band. R-K purposely wrote it that way when he was a military bandmaster in Czarist Russia. Since it is in E flat that puts you in F on a clarinet. You may wish to embellish the score a bit here and there and maybe write your own cadenzas for it.
The edition I played back in the1960s was from Russia. The paper was poor quality but the notes were easily readable. I can't tell you the publisher's name because it was written in the Cyrillic alphabet.
I seem to recall that this music is available either from Southern Music in Texas or from Luyben in Kansas City or from International Music Publishers in New York if they are still in business, although those versions may be reductions for Clarinet and piano. You might want to try a Google or Yahoo search on the full title along with clarinet and band or orchestr*.
If you do get to play it, please let us know.
