Hello Sneezers!
(sorry if this appears to be an ad Mark)
If any of you Clarinetists are going to be in chicago on March 3rd, please stop in the Chicago Culutral Centre to hear the Protege Philharmonic, a very talented orchestra of high schoolers who are lead by the wonderful Joseph Glymph. We are playing Danse macabre, franck Symphony in D minor, and the Firebird Suite.
Not to mention this is my great solo debut after winning our 2002 young artists concerto competition!!
I am playing the first movement of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, and hope to attractct a large audience, so if you have nothing better to do at 3 PM in Chicago, stop by!
Carmen Izzo!

Congratulations Carmen. You picked a bad time for the Chicago sneezers and those nearby. 3pm is Sneezer Chat time.

Carmen: Were I within a hundred miles, I would be there without fail. Do break a leg.
And Bob, I would much rather listen to a good clarinet than talk about one.

I live in the Chicago area but I don't have a clue as to where the "Chicago Culutral Center" is. How about a street address?

It's at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Washington Street. It used to be the main library (many years ago) and is an incredibly beautiful building.
Free concerts nearly every day at lunchtime. I just heard the Chicago Chamber Musicians there over lunchtime this past Monday (Larry Combs, William Buchman, Mathieu Defour, Michael Henoch, Deborah Sobo and Gail Williams.) Where else would you hear these wonderful musicians playing wonderful music for free?
By the way, if you get there, don't miss Preston Bradley Hall on the 3rd floor. A real Tiffany ceiling that is spectacular.

Carmen- I would love to go hear you play, but my trio also has a performance at that time. I wish you the best of luck on a very difficult piece. Have fun!

Carmen - good luck - what a delicious program. I adore the Ceasar Franck symphonie - one of my absolute favourites.

Woo Hoo! check mark for a concert report for my lessons! :-D Tell me... will there be a piano solo at any point in the concert? That would make my day by killing another concert report!

soory, no piano concertos for you. I believe there is an exposed piano passage near the beginning of Firebird though!
