Hello everyone!
I have been lurking through this web site for some time now and have learned so much from all of you. I am one that has picked up "my" clarinet after 15 or more years and started playing with a small orchestra. I can relate to the "Cat" stories while practicing. (my cat doesn't run, but her skin does move around a bit....haha)
Anyway.....I found an answer to this question in the search quite a while ago, and now I can not find it. My question was, how do you trill from the B just above the staff to the C#.
I also want to make sure I understand "trilling". It all depends on the Key you are in, and you just trill up to the next highest note that you would play in that key. Right?

Becky...Your understanding of trilling is correct.
To trill from B5 to C#6, there are a few ways:
TR x o x / x x x and trill the 3rd finger of the right hand
TR x o o / o o o and trill by pressing lower 2 right side keys
TR x o o / o o o and trill by removing thumb and register key together

Your concept of trilling is correct, although trills are sometimes altered by additional b's #'s or naturals that alter that rule. To trill above the staff B to C#, simply hold your first finger in place and trill with your thumb. Another way might be to keep your B fingering and trill the two bottom side keys with your l-h forefinger, but I prefer trilling the thumb--a bit awkward at first, but easy with practice and better "in tune") BTW, a good fast (tremelo) fingering for that B to D, is to simply take all fingers off for the high D (in effect, overblowing a second line G for high D) These are the fingering I use when I play the solo clarinet part at the beginning of the second strain for "On Wisconsin"--makes it almost easy!! Good Clarineting!! (and consider yourself humored :>)

Thank you so much guys! I was "Trilled" to get a response.
The Trill findering chart is a big help too. Printed it out....:)

I'm a bit surprised nobody mentioned the most in tune fingering:
Just trill the 3rd (from the bottom) trill key while fingering the B. The only potential problem with this is that if you bite it might squeak. But if your embouchure is good this is really the best way, as the other fingerings (with the exception of GBK's first) are too narrow; in other words the C# is too flat.
